Doris E. Martin, 98, Stanberry, MO passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, at a Stanberry, MO nursing home.

She was born on May 24, 1924, in Enyart, Missouri the daughter of Hurley and Tressie (Kier) Nelson.

On February 19, 1945, she married Benjamin L. Martin in Troy, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1997. They were married for 52 years.

Doris was a devoted wife and caretaker, caring for her husband after he had gone blind in his 30’s. She enjoyed raising goats, gardening and tending to her flowers, and she loved her dog, Fancy.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, V. John Boner; brothers, Garnett Nelson and Clifford Wayne Nelson; sister, Carol Jean Cameron; and a granddaughter, Sharon Boner-Stoner.

Doris is survived by her granddaughter, Susan Shotwell, St. Charles, MO and several step-brothers, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 3 at Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO. Burial will follow in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry, MO.
