Frank Bert Binning, age 75, of Van Wert, Iowa, the son of Bert and Elveta Glee (Greenhalgh) Binning, was born June 27, 1945, in Osceola, Iowa. He was a born-again Christian and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 31, 2020, while at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Frank lived on the same farm all of his life. It has been in the family for almost 150 years. He was proud of his family history and loved to share stories with anyone who would listen. He attended school and graduated from Central Decatur High School in 1963. Frank began farming with his dad and eventually took over when his dad retired.

On September 10, 1963, he was united in marriage to Joyce LeAnn Andrew. They were blessed with four children, Tammy, Tracey, Teresa, and Darren. They were blessed to have 57 years together.

Frank looked forward to camping and waterskiing trips in the summers with extended family. He loved to sing as a member of quartets, the Reflections trio, and the community choir. He served on the Central Decatur school board for 13 years, was a New Salem Church trustee and song leader, a long-time Leon Lions Club member and was active with the cemetery renovation committee, a Long Creek Township trustee, and a committee member for the Farm Service Agency. He volunteered on the chain gang for CD football for 30 years. He was a past member of the Brethren Church and current member of New Salem Baptist Church. He was first baptized in the Brethren church and was baptized again in the Jordan River in Israel last fall.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Doyle & Norma Binning; and sisters, Mary Lou Blair and Patricia Hullinger. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Binning of Van Wert, Iowa; children, Tammy and Kevin Smith of Chillicothe, Missouri, Tracey and Chris Boothe of Ames, Iowa, Teresa and Pat Greenwood of Lamoni, Iowa, and Darren and Rachel Binning of Clive, Iowa; grandchildren, Heather & Ben Hawkins, Matt & Megan Smith, Sydney & Brian Little, Mack & Katie Boothe, Will Greenwood, Kate Greenwood, and Jack Greenwood; great grandchildren, Addyson, Leah, and Ty Smith, Emma and Noah Hawkins, and Wren Little; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Roger Sebenik of Boulder, Colorado; brothers-in-law, John Blair of Delta, Colorado and Ron Hullinger of W. Lafayette, Indiana; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

A public visitation will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa on Monday, August 3, 2020, from 2-7 p.m. A private funeral will be held with burial at a later date in Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Iowa.

A memorial fund has been established by the Family.
