Gary Eugene Warren, age 85, of Des Moines, Iowa, the son of William Elijah and Clara Edna (Nauman) Warren, was born January 2, 1937, in Decatur County, Iowa. He died at the Norwalk Regency Care Center in Norwalk, Iowa on May 8, 2022.

Gary grew up and attended school in Leon, Iowa. Following his high school graduation in 1956, he moved to Des Moines, Iowa and started working at Farm Bureau as a janitor. He worked his way up the ladder and became a printing pressman, assistant then manager of the pressroom, and finished the last three or four years of his career in the purchasing department. In 1992, he was offered early retirement at age 55; he often said that was the best thing that happened to him.

On January 1, 1957, he was united in marriage to Ginger Hinds and they made their home in Des Moines. They were blessed with one son, Rickie, in 1958. Ginger died in 1983.

Gary loved his King Midget car, often driving it in local parades. He enjoyed jukeboxes, watching Nascar and car racing. He was a huge Jeff Gordon fan. Gary also loved to tinker and make crafty things.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Chester and Imogene Warren; sister, Donna and Don Redman; and sister-in-law, Marletta Warren. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Tammy Warren of Norwalk, Iowa; granddaughters, Chrissy and Michael Powell and Kim Barbour; great grandchildren, Cody, Maddy, Cameron, Clare, Chloe, Lily, and Jack; great, great grandson, Christopher; brother, Charles Warren of Leon, Iowa; sister, Doris and Eldon Binning of Lamoni, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2022. Visitation is Thursday beginning at Noon with family receiving friends 5 – 7 p.m. Burial is in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.   A memorial fund has been established by the family.
