Jimmie Clyde Fulton, age 67, the son of Clyde Orville and Mary Ellen (Owen) Fulton, was born December 14, 1955, in Leon, Iowa. He passed away March 28, 2023, at the Fulton family farm north of Lamoni, Iowa.

Jimmie went to Lamoni Community Schools where he was active in football, wrestling, FFA, and several other “shenanigans”. He graduated in 1974. He was very proud of his senior year’s undefeated football season, his 19-1-1 wrestling record, and his work in FFA.

He worked several jobs before starting at Jimmy Dean in Osceola, Iowa in 1980. He worked there until they closed in 1993. He then went to school to be an electrician and started his own business, Fulton Electric. He was quick to joke about never burning a single house down during his career. He loved living on the family farm for 18 1/2 years. He was proud of the eight years he served on the Decatur County Board of Supervisors and the work accomplished during his term.

He married Dena Houck in August of 1977. They were proud parents of Lori, Jaime, Lynsey, and Stacey. After their separation, he met Sheila (Evans) Caldwell; they have been together for the last 19 years. He was also the proud grandpa of Chelsi, Kayci, Jake, Cooper, Madison, Jase, Brantley, and Kinley. Family was very important to Jimmie and he was known to share many stories and pictures of his grandkids. He looked forward to any family gathering. He always had a tale to tell, some more believable than others. He was very well known in the community and you always knew where you stood with Jimmie. He was an avid sports lover. He enjoyed playing cards at the Leon Country Club, took up golfing later in life, spent a lot of time watching his favorite teams play, and cheering on his grandkids in their activities.

Jimmie was preceded in death by parents, Clyde and Mary Fulton; uncle Leck and aunt Maddie Dunham; and brother-in-law, Dale Short, along with other relatives and friends.

Survivors include Sheila; his daughters and sons-in-law, Lori & Larry Mongar, Jaime & Andrew Smith, Lynsey & Zach Manternach, Stacey & Josh Manternach; grandchildren, Chelsi & Zach, Kayci & Sean, Jake, Cooper, Madison, Jase, Brantley, and Kinley; Sheila’s sons, Dave Norman and Matt & Lani Norman and their children, Grace, James, Opal, Leo, and Milo; sister, Susie Short; brothers, Alphie & Kate Fulton and Terry Fulton and friend, Reese; along with several close nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many great friends.

Thank you to everyone who has helped him through his cancer journey over the last two years. Your support meant the world to him and his family.
