Johnny N. Sterneker – age 86 of Gallatin, MO passed away Monday afternoon, July 19th, 2021 at his home.  Johnny was born on July 5th, 1935 the son of John and Marie (Webber) Sterneker in Kingman, KS.  He grew up in rural Cunningham, KS. He was a 1953 graduate of Cunningham High School.  Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Johnny served four years in the Marine Corps and served in Korea, before being honorably discharged as Sergeant.  Follow his military service, he obtained a bachelor’s degree from Wichita Municipal University, now Wichita State University.  Johnny was united in marriage to Dianne Kennedy on August 26, 1961, in Wichita, KS.  He worked for the Food and Drug Administration as a food inspector for 33 years.  After retirement, Johnny and Dianne operate their farm in rural Daviess County, MO.  Johnny worked many years for Jack and Lois Barton at Barton’s Hardware in Gallatin.  He served on the board of directors for the Daviess County Health Department.  Johnny loved his animals, particularly his dogs and cats.  He was always known to carry a dog biscuit or two with him.  Johnny was a good-natured guy that was always friendly and smiling.  He was a farm enthusiast and enjoyed walking around his farm.  Johnny also enjoyed socializing. He will be dearly missed.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Dianne. Survivors include his son, John (Kerri) Sterneker of Gallatin and granddaughters, Kaylen and Olivia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Gallatin Fire Protection District or the Cameron Veterans Home Assistance League in care of the funeral home. Memorial services with military honors will be held at 2 PM, Friday, July 23rd, 2021 at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin.
