Joyce Robertson, 90, died peacefully in her sleep Sept. 12, 2021, in Butler, Mo. Joyce was born January 13, 1931, in Albany, Mo., the eighth of 10 children born to George Daniel and Alpha Delpha (Jennings) Carlock. She wed Charles Lee Robertson on June 23, 1955. Joyce loved the family she was born into, and she loved the family she built with Lee. Together, they raised four children. Joyce worked hard in the garden, sewed clothes, and cooked nearly every family meal, even on family vacations. She worked as a soda jerk in high school, attended college, taught two years in a country school, worked as a secretary at GE in Louisville, Ky., and at the Gentry County USDA Service Center before the kids were born. In addition to being a full-time mom, she did the books for the station after Lee bought the Phillips 66 just off the Albany square in 1960. As the kids got older, she worked part-time as a short-order cook, and later, full-time secretarial and bookkeeping jobs, retiring in 2003. Joyce came to Christ as a child and had been a member of the Albany Church of Christ. After moving to Butler, she attended the First Baptist Church.

Joyce is survived by two daughters, Carol (Alan) Hayes of Butler and Mary (Jeff) Floyd of Columbia, Mo.; one son, Steven Robertson of Albany; six grandchildren, Chris Robertson of Clarinda, Iowa; Michael Robertson of Fountain, Colo., Callie Floyd and Drew Floyd of Chicago, Ill., Slate Hayes of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Mason Hayes of Butler; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia (Paul) Zee of Knoxville, Tenn., numerous nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and -nephews, and a brother-in-law, John (Joan) Robertson of Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband; their oldest son, Charles Dean Robertson; her parents; five sisters: Juanita Carlock Bowman, Rachel Carlock Shields Woodward, Clarice Carlock Harrah, Alice Carlock Whitworth and Shirley Carlock Holmes; and three brothers: Olin Carlock, George William (Bill) Carlock, and Daniel Carlock.
