Leota Ruth Merkel

Plainview, NE: Leota Ruth Merkel, 79, Plainview, NE passed away Monday, March 2, 2020.
She was born on April 26, 1940 in Lineville, Iowa the daughter of Jacob and Velta (Nickell) Lentz.
On April 9, 1963, she married Charles Merkel in Omaha, Nebraska. He preceded her in death in 1997.
Leota attended Lineville High School. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Plainview, Nebraska and enjoyed fishing and casinos in her spare time.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and infant brothers, Morris and Merlin Lentz.
Leota is survived by her step-children, Sharon (Bill) Lamb and Patricia (Gerald) Fitzgerald; 8 step-grandchildren; 18 step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; brother, Dean (Lois), Carl and Donnie (Virginia) Lentz; sisters, Mary Kitto and Susie Bennet and step-brother, Keith Roberts.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 9 at Roberson Funeral Home, Lineville, IA. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Lineville, IA. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.robersonfuneralhome.com
