Linda C. Owens

Linda Carol (Dendy) Owens, age 73, the daughter of John Ray and Doxie Lee (Van Winkle) Dendy, was born August 20, 1949, in Oceanside, California. She died at her Leon, Iowa home on Sunday, February 5, 2023.

Linda grew up and attended school in Vista, California, graduating from high school in 1967. She attended Hair Tech Cosmetology School in Oceanside. On May 25, 1968, she was united in marriage to Archie Dean Owens. They made their home in Leon, Iowa and were blessed with three children, Jennifer, John, and Daniel. Linda was a wife, mother, and homemaker for her family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing – making many of her own and her kids’s clothes, and reading murder mysteries and romance novels. She collected dolls and plates.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Archie in 2013; twin great grandsons, Chazz and Blazze; sister, Shirley Dendy; and friend and companion, Stephen Scholar.

Survivors include her children, Jennifer Hardee Young and husband, John Young of Mansfield, Louisiana, John Owens of Leon, and Daniel Owens and wife, Maria Owens of Osceola, Iowa; grandchildren, Adam Vines, Andrew Vines, Macie Hardee, Maitlyn & Jacob Farlow, Samantha Young, Shelly Gray, Chasity Musick, Jonathan Young, Brandon Young, Zach Young, Yesse Gonzalez, Rene & Beatrize Gonzalez, Edwin & Carla Sanchez, Jonathan Gonzalez, Ashley Owens, and Cassandra Owens; great grandchildren, Cheyli, Quincee, Kia, Kaezin, Emmaleigh, Jonathon, Owen, Hero, Eva, Montgomery, Syris, Alex, Archer, Audree, Bryan, Nayeli, Javier, Ariana, Yandira, Galilea, Ivanna, and Sophia; brother, Kenneth Dendy and wife, Janet of Turlock, California; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2023, with Pastor Ron Helton officiating. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.
