Mary Margaret (Mathews) Streett, 88, passed away February 23, 2022, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, Kansas, where she has resided for the past two years of her life.

Mary was born October 29, 1933, in Harrison County, White Oak Township to Alvin Francis and Clara Belle (Wokasch Omans) Mathews. Mary attended Bell School and later walked with siblings
Leslie and John 2 1⁄2 miles to the school bus to attend South Harrison High in Bethany Mo; she graduated in 1951.

After high school, Mary attended The Wright Business College in Kansas City before returning to Bethany to work as secretary of the extension office. There she met Marvin Baird Streett, whom she married April 5th, 1953, at the Christian Union Church, north of Gilman City. This union welcomed four children: Steven Allen, Frances Ann, Linda Kay, and John Alvin. They lived on a farm east of Bethany. Marvin passed in 1967 as the result of a car accident. Mary continued to live on the farm until August of 2019.

Mary was Secretary-Office Manager at the University of Missouri Extension Office in Bethany for nearly 30 years, retiring in 2002. While there, she was also responsible for offset printing for a nine-county area, completion of seed counting for University of Missouri test plots, and soil testing for area farmers. She served as secretary for Bethany Township Board numerous years and Bethany Township Assessor for 10 years. Mary was a community servant by giving her time as a Far & Near 4-H Club Community Leader and by supporting 4-H Junior Leaders and the University of Missouri Master Gardeners, from which she earned a Master Gardener certificate. She enjoyed managing the farm, gardening, preserving, raising livestock, spending time in nature, traveling, learning, encouraging, and loving her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Leslie; brothers, John and Alvin (Jim); brothers-in-law, Robert Blin and Edward Streett; and sisters-in-law, Janice Mathews and Anna Lee Streett.

Mary is survived by children: Steven (Bethany, MO), Frances (Richard) Jackson (Branson, MO), Linda (Bart) White (Sabetha, KS), and John (Jennifer) Streett (Fairview, KS); eight grandchildren: Dawna (Jackson) Skaggs, Garrett (Whitney) Jackson, Paul Jackson, Heath (Fiancé Megan) White, Larisa White, Joseph (Brooke) Streett, Clara (Hunter) McKinney, Olivia Streett, and John Robert Streett; six great-grandchildren, with two on the way, and a great-great grandchild; sister-in-law Annie Mathews; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in the Christian Union Cemetery, Gilman City, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
