Mitchell E. Pummell
Mitchell E. Pummell, 69, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024, in St. Joseph. He was born Oct. 10, 1954, in Bremerton, Washington, son of Ida and Richard Pummell. Mitch attended Benton High School. On June 8, 1973, he married the love of his life, Joyce Hartman, in St. Joseph, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary last year.
Mitch worked at Don Pummell Construction and later worked for 32 years at Friskie’s Pet Foods. Mitch’s hobbies included shooting guns, going hunting, riding his motorcycle, and wood working and anytime he could he spent with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Freedom of the Road Riders- Local 6.
Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janice Johnson.
Survivors include wife, Joyce Pummell, of the home; children, Shanin Pummell (Kelly Traster), of DeKalb, Missouri, Ryan Pummell (Heather Gillette), of Easton, Missouri, and Tiffany (Jason) White, of St. Joseph; brothers, Rick (Paula) Pummell, of DeKalb, Melvin (Leslie) Pummell, of Savannah, Missouri, Phillip (Lisa) Pummell, of St. Joseph; sister, Audrey (James) Tolson, of St. Joseph; brother-in-law, Max Johnson; grandchildren, Skyleigh (Matt), Dakota (Meghan), Preston (Kelsey), Kobe (Tessa), Aly, Bryson (Lindsay) and Blaine (Bailey); great-grandchildren, Joslyn, Acre, Harper, Hadley, Meadow, Ben, Josie, Hudson, Teagan, and Porter; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pummell has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Missouri Valley Baptist Church, where family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Pastor Andy Campbell officiating.
