Nancy M. Lewis, 75, of St. Joseph, passed away, Nov. 18, 2023. Nancy was born Nov. 29, 1947, in St. Louis, to Raymond and Gail (Anderson) Hamann.

She was a graduate of Normandy High School in St. Louis and Southeast Missouri University. She was an elementary teacher and a middle school librarian working last for the Moniteau School District in California, Missouri and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Education Sorority.

She was an active member of First Lutheran Church Downtown in St. Joseph, where she was involved in Women of ELCA, Phoebe Circle, and Altar Guild. While in California, Missouri, she and her husband were active in Finke Theatre and Nancy was very involved at Woodplace Library. Her hobbies were needlepoint, gardening, and genealogy.

She married Philip Lewis, in Cool Valley, Missouri, on July 5, 1969 and he survives.

Also surviving are sons, Charles Lewis and wife, Nancy, Christopher Lewis and wife, Patricia; two granddaughters, Isabel and Eleanor; sister, Carol Bunge and husband, James; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Memorial contributions would be appreciated to First Lutheran Church Downtown Youth Fund or to the American Cancer Society.

Services will be Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 302 South 10th, St. Joseph.

Interment will follow in Ashland Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
