Phyllis Jacqueline Fuller, age 86, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was born on May 23, 1937, in Leon, Iowa to Homer Lemuel and Mayme Lucille (Bivens) Fletcher. She left this life on April 1, 2024, at Brookdale Virginia Beach Memory Care Center, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Phyllis grew up and attended school with her future husband, Carroll Asbury Fuller, in Leon, Iowa. She graduated with the Class of 1955 from Leon High School then attended college. On October 14, 1956, she and Carroll were united in marriage in Oceanside, California. They were blessed with two daughters, Lori and Lynnette.

Carroll was a career man in the United States Navy. The family lived in various places including, the Philippines, Hawaii, Guam, South Carolina, and Virginia before his retirement. The Philippines and Hawaii were magical places for them. They had many fond memories of their life there. Together Phyllis and Carroll enjoyed building and repurposing items for their home from their Decatur County, Iowa farm roots. They also had fond memories of their childhoods.

Phyllis was a high school cafeteria director. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and doing arts and crafts. She really enjoyed singing in church with her musical family, “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” was a favorite. Being a loving Grandma brought her endless joy.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and husband, Carroll in 2010. Survivors include her daughters, Lori Haller and husband, Mark of Germantown, Maryland and Lynnette Quick and husband, Jim of Virginia Beach, Virginia; seven grandsons, William Haller and wife, Megan, Alexander Haller, Douglas Haller, Ethan Taylor, Harry Taylor, Grant Quick, and Noah Quick; great granddaughter, Elizabeth; her beloved caregiver, Zakiya Donaway, the Brookdale caregivers, Intrepid Hospice caregivers, and Coventry Care; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rick Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.
