Stanberry, MO: Randy Lee Newby, 57, Stanberry, MO was called home to his Lord and Savior
on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Pineview Manor, Stanberry, MO.
Randy was born May 18, 1964 in St. Joseph, Missouri the son of Jack and Betty (Gard)
Newby.
Randy enjoyed playing football growing up. He attended and graduated from King City High
School in 1982. After high school, he worked on the wheat harvest, which was one of his
fondest memories.
He was an over the road trucker for over thirty years. He took pride in having driven five
million accident free miles across the lower forty-eight states as well as the southern Canadian
provinces. After retiring from trucking, he spent three years working as a school bus driver. He
greatly enjoyed spending time with the children on his routes.
Randy was a romantic at heart, marrying twice in his life. Though the marriages did not work
out long term, he enjoyed family life and deeply valued the stepchildren he gained in those
marriages.
Randy also really assisted his sister in raising her two children. He was and is viewed as more
of a father than an uncle to her children.
Randy was an active member of the Stanberry Baptist Church, having accepted Jesus Christ
as his Lord and Savior. More than that, he lived a godly life, helping anyone he could as much
as he could.
In his free time, Randy enjoyed visiting with friends and family. In his later years, he
especially loved visits with his great-nephew and other little children. He also enjoyed watching
his western movies and Fox News. Randy was a kind and generous soul. He had a good sense
of humor and a strong moral compass.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Darrell and Marguerite Newby and
Wilbur and Velma (Jennings) Gard; aunts, Norma (Newman) Ross, Alice Miller and Vera Wagner
and uncle, Don Gard.
Survivors include his sister, Donna Evans; niece, Jennifer Evans; nephew, Joshua Kincaid;
great-nephew, Xavier Cox; uncles, Jim Gard and Dale Gard; step-sons, Ziebig and John
Conover; step-granddaughter, Bailey Ziebig as well as other cousins and countless friends.
Randy has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO.
Memorial Services will be at a later date with inurnment in the New Friendship Cemetery,
north of Albany, MO. Memorials may be directed to the family for expenses in care of
