Rick Hinds

Ricky Jay Hinds, known as Rick, age 66, died at his Lamoni, Iowa home on Sunday, February 5, 2023. Rick was born to Lorel Kenneth and Mildred Louise (Witt) Hinds on December 26, 1956, in Leon, Iowa.

Rick grew up and attended school in Leon, Iowa. He worked with his brother, Greg, as a mechanic and also farmed. He retired from farming.

In 1992, he married Tommie Lynn Britt. Rick was Dad to three children, Travis, Jarin, and Amy.

In his free time, Rick enjoyed tinkering with cars and tractors. He always enjoyed car rides and tractor pulls. He never knew a stranger and had the gift of storytelling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant sister, Joyce Hinds. Survivors include his wife, Tommie Hinds; children, Travis Claycomb and wife, Sheila of Bethany, Missouri, Jarin Hinds and fiance, Katelyn Pennington of Lamoni, Iowa, and Amy Davis and husband, Darryl of Davis City, Iowa; grandchildren, Izzy, Jayleigh, Thomas Jay, Kadence, Kamree, Lillian, Tyler, Peyton, Madison, and Ayden; siblings, Greg Hinds and wife, Kelly of Davis City, Shelley West of Osceola, Iowa, Kibby Hinds of Ft. Madison, Iowa, and Carrie White of Osceola; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, with Matt Remsburg officiating. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.
