Robert Eugene “Corky” Goodpasture
Rodney Eugene “Corky” Goodpasture, 53, Stanberry, MO (formerly of Tucson, Arizona) passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at his home.
He was born on January 2, 1967 in Rantoul, Illinois.
On March 8, 1996, he married Sharon Carter in Tucson, Arizona. She survives of the home. Corky served in the United States Marine Corps. He was an instructor and program director
for automotive mechanics at Vatterott College. His true calling was to pass knowledge on to others. The highlight of his year was playing Santa at the Stanberry Light Night. He also volunteered as Santa at the Opportunity Workshop, Mosaic Medical Center in St. Joseph, and the Albany National Guard Armory. He enjoyed fishing, spoiling his granddaughters, especially
with gummy bears, and sharing stories about his military experience. He also loved cooking for his family and friends in a home where all were welcome.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
In addition to his wife, Corky is survived by his daughters, Jessica (Levi) Santa Cruz, Stanberry, MO and Hannah (Spencer) Brown, St. Joseph, MO; son, Jordan (Crystal) Gaona, Denver, CO; granddaughters, Lexi, Kenzi, Ally, Emily, Kambry, and Gracie; dad, Neil Stone; four sisters and one brother and several nieces and nephews.
Corky has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO. Memorial Services and Celebration of Life with Military Rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. on
Saturday, August 29 at the First Christian Church, Stanberry, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO. Open Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Saturday at the church where social distancing will be observed and masks are recommended. The family asks that attendees dress casual and in bright colors to honor Corky’s Life. Inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Corky Goodpasture Memorial Fund to be designated at a later date in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 153, Stanberry, MO 64489.
