Bethany, MO: Rosalea Mae (Lawrence) Magee, 75, Bethany, MO passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 21, 1944 in Bethany, MO. She was the daughter of Earnest and Leah (Loveless) Lawrence. She attended South Harrison Elementary and High School, graduating in 1962.
On August 31, 1962, she was united in marriage to Bobby Magee. They were married at the New Hampton Christian Church by Reverend Earl Ledbetter. They were proud parents of two children, Brenda and Brian. They lived on a farm south of New Hampton for 33 years then moved to Bethany in 1996.
Rosalea worked at Old American Insurance in Albany for 19 years. After moving to Bethany, she worked at the Corner Drug for 19 years until they sold and relocated to the HyVee Pharmacy. Rosalea retired from there in 2013 after 13 years of service.
Rosalea enjoyed working in her yard, growing flowers, crocheting afghans for all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed riding the motorcycle with Bob, traveling, and taking family vacations. She attended all of her children and grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events. She loved her family and friends. She knew everyone from working in the public and enjoyed socializing. She always had a smile and kind word for everyone she met. She was always dressed perfectly with her hair and nails done. She was loved and will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by parents; mother-in-law, Bernice Magee; father-in-law, R.J. (Pete) Magee; brother-in-law, Wm. R. (Bill) Magee; brothers, Denzil, Orvan, and Ronald Lawrence; and nieces, Nita (Lawrence) Farmer and Kathy Magee.
Rosalea leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 57 years, Bob Magee; daughter, Brenda Gabriel and son, Brian Magee both of Bethany; granddaughter, Stevie Sterkis (Travis) Albany; grandson, Braxton Magee, Bethan; great grandchildren, Ashely, Hailey, Evan, Jordyn, Whitney and Kaylyn Sterkis all of Albany; sister-in-law, Betty Magee Nicholls (Kent), Cameron and Bonnie Magee, Bethany; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Graveside Services and Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 23 in Foster Cemetery, New Hampton, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Friends may call from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Due to the COVID-19 virus, there will be no scheduled family visitation.
