Roxey L. (Rocky) Richey

1928-2023

Cameron, Missouri- Roxey Lee Richey, 94, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away May 17, 2023. Born August 4, 1928 in Barnard, Missouri, he was the son of Francis and Bonnie (Hainey) Richey.

Roxey graduated from Barnard High School. He enlisted in the United States Army where he served with the Ninth Infantry Division in World War II. After serving, he returned to St. Joseph where he drove a truck for over 30 years for Swift & Company and Globe Union, until retiring. He enjoyed time spent on the farm and raising cattle.

Roxey was a proud father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing, playing cards, following the Chiefs, and going on walks. 

Roxey is preceded in death by his parents; former wife and mother of his children, Rose Mary (Sturm); sons, John and Mark; and siblings, Ed, Vernon, Bonnie, and Mary.   

Survivors: children, Stephen (Betty) Richey, St. Joseph, Missouri, Deborah Keefer, St. Joseph, Missouri, Kenneth (Chris) Richey, Castle Rock, Colorado, Rosie Richey, Ozark, Missouri, and Roxanne (Darrell) Rooney, Cameron, Missouri; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services: 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Poland-Thompson Chapel with

visitation prior to the service 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM.
