Shirley Ingram
Shirley Jean Heggs Ingram, daughter of Ernest and Irene Wimer Heggs Crigler, was born on December 24th, 1935, in Ringgold County, near Kellerton, Iowa.
She departed from this life at Ramsey Village Continuing Care Retirement Community on Saturday August 26, 2023, at age 87.
Shirley lived in Ringgold County until after high school graduation in 1954. She then moved to Des Moines, where she worked at N.W. Bell Telephone for 3 years.
On June 30, 1957, she married Myron Ingram. They lived in Des Moines, and then moved into a house in Altoona that Myron built. They lived there until 1968. To this union three children completed their family, Teresa, Tamera, and Michael.
In March of 1968, Myron, Shirley and family moved to the Heggs family farm 2 miles west of Kellerton, Iowa. During this time, Shirley helped Myron farm and with the livestock. Shirley was active with their church, Kellerton Christian Church. Additionally, she worked in Public Health and at the Ringgold County Hospital. They retired from farming in 1991 and moved to a house in Kellerton.
Shirley became a member of the Family of God at the age of 12. She shared her faith, trying to use every opportunity to witness. She served God and Mankind. Shirley and Myron were faithful and devoted members of the Trinity Christian Church.
Shirley and Myron loved listening to music as well as singing and dancing. Shirley also enjoyed playing Bingo, Spider Solitaire, and exchanging greeting cards and phone calls with others for all birthdays, holidays and any fitting occasion. Shirley also enjoyed sharing laughs, jokes and stories with others. Even most recently, she would share short jokes with her children when they called.
She was a blessing to, and blessed by, the staff from Hospice of the Midwest these last few months of her life.
Preceding her in death were her parents; stepfather Ray Crigler; sister Janice Heggs Duffield; brother Allan Heggs; and her much beloved husband Myron.
Left to celebrate her life, and not sadness, are Teresa (John Saulnier), Tamera (Cyrus Rustin), and Michael; 8 grandsons Adam Sickels & wife Bridget, Alex Sickels, Mark, Nick, Brock and Luke Rustin, Chris Ingram, Matt Ingram & wife Ashlee; 3 great granddaughters Lily Sickels, Leraine Sickels, Eloise Ingram.
A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided later.
