Stephen Ray Decker
Stephen Ray Decker, 63, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at his home. He was born Jan. 6, 1960, in St. Joseph, son of Lois and Charles Decker. Steve graduated from Benton High School, class of 1978. He previously co-owned Midwest Firearms, where he shared his love of outdoors and firearms and made many new friends over the years. In 2001, he began his career at WRDCC as a Corrections Officer.
Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling and spending time outdoors, most importantly spending time with his family. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary Decker and Ronald Decker; nephew, Gary Decker Jr.; niece, Kimberly George; and brother-in-law, Joseph Fry.
Survivors include sister, Judy Fry, of St. Joseph; nieces and nephews, Shelly Lance, Richard Decker, Terri Krull, Jeff Fry, Randy Fry, and Amy Wiedmaier; numerous great-nieces and great-nepehws and cousins.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, at the Rupp Funeral Home, with Pastor Olin Greer officiating. The Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Dekalb, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
