Stephen Ray “Nub” White

Stephen Ray “Nub” White, 64, Maysville, died Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the North Kansas City Hospital Hospice House. He was born November 13, 1957 in DeKalb County to Maurice and Marlene White.

Nub graduated from Maysville High School in 1976 and remained a huge Wolverine sports fan throughout his life. He attended just about every home Wolverine sporting event, and on February 7 he was recognized at the Maysville basketball game for being the Number One Wolverine fan.

In his younger days, Nub was an excellent bowler, and participated in league play in Cameron, receiving many trophies. He loved to golf and he played in the Lakesite Country Club Men’s League until he had to quit a few years ago because of arthritis. He was proud of the hole-in-one he recorded on Hole No. 4.
He was also an avid fisherman and he spent many afternoons fishing in area ponds and the Maysville reservoirs. For many years he raised beagles and ran them in area competitions.

Nub loved the Maysville youth, and over the years gave away thousands of DumDum suckers to kids in town. He was saddened when he had to stop doing this during the COVID-19 pandemic, and he was hoping to be able return to giving them out this year.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Marlene White.

Survivors include his aunt, Vivian Reedy of Bella Vista, Arkansas; uncle Keith White and wife, Ila Rhei of Cheyenne, Wyoming; cousin Sharon Meek and husband, Bill, Rogers, Arkansas; extended family, Richard and Rose Ann Pearl, their daughters Brooke McGrath and Kevin, and Lacy Pearl; granddaughters, Brinley Howard, Maddie McGrath and Hannah McGrath; Terry Pearl, Maysville; and the entire Maysville community.
