Timothy “Tim” Gene Turner, Sr. – age 67 of Lathrop, MO passed away Sunday afternoon, November 7th, 2021 in Lathrop. Tim was born on January 8th, 1954 the son of Marvin Gene and Irma Lou (Spor) Turner in Excelsior Springs, MO. He grew up in Lathrop and was a 1972 graduate of Lathrop High School. On June 23, 1973 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Farmer in Miami, OK. Tim worked as a corrections officer for Western Missouri Correctional Facility in Cameron, MO for 16 years.  He founded the Lathrop Youth Wrestling Club and coached for many years, coaching his kids, grandkids and other youth in the community.  Tim enjoyed chasing storms and following the weather. He was a quiet person and a great dad and grandpa. Tim loved his grandkids. He enjoyed doing yard work, gardening flowers, and watching birds and butterflies. Tim will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

 

Tim was preceded in death by his parents; survivors include wife, Phyllis of the home; children, Timothy Turner, Jr. of Lathrop, Jeremy (Abby Booth) Turner of Lathrop and Jerrod Turner of Lathrop; siblings, Kenneth Turner of Lathrop, Gary (Mary) Turner of Weatherby Lake, and Joseph (Eva Russell) Turner of Lathrop; grandchildren, Desiree, Alexis, Deon, Destin, Jaedyn, Kyra and Mikayla “Boogie Woogie”; Several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 1 PM to 2 PM, Thursday, November 11th, 2021 at Stith Funeral Home in Lathrop, followed by graveside services at Bethel Cemetery near Polo, MO.
