Pet Of The Week – Duke
Duke

If you are looking for a loving, well-rounded pup who can be your couch buddy and your hunting or adventure companion, you need to look no further than Duke! Duke is an approximately 1 ½ to 2-year-old Blue Tick Coonhound who is sure to delight his new family with his laid-back nature and his coonhound nose and sense of adventure!

How Duke came to Green Hills Animal Shelter is a bit of a mystery, but he appears to have been abandoned in the parking lot, which is where shelter staff found him; hungry, covered in mud, and using his hound dog nose to explore the parking lot and surrounding green spaces. Staff scooped him up and with a good bath, food, and water, Duke began his journey to find a Forever Home and Family.

Duke is a handsome, friendly dog who loves people. He has a super-sweet, laid-back personality and loves to just sit and be petted. When he is inside, Duke is calm and well-mannered, but when he is outside his energetic, playful side shines through. Duke loves to go for leashed walks in the timber, where he instinctively tries to tree everything … even when there is nothing there! LOL! Duke has a very distinctive coonhound howl, and loves to show it off when he is on a grand, leashed adventure!  And when those walks are through, sweet Duke is ready to back inside to get petted and loved.

If Duke could describe his perfect Forever Home he would ask for a home where he would be a true part of the family and get to spend his time being with his people and getting petted and loved. He would love to be an indoor dog and get to go on long walks with his family. He would very much enjoy having a large, secure area to run and play, but would also be content to get his exercise in on those leashed walks. Duke gets along well with other dogs and would very much enjoy having a canine companion in his Forever Home, and his laid-back personality and charm would also make him a good fit in a home with children.

Duke will go to his Forever Home neutered, dewormed, heartworm tested, and up to date on all vaccinations including rabies. He is truly a gem of a pup; could you make his dream of a Forever Home come true?
