Pet Of The Week – Rusty

We’d like to introduce you to Rusty! Rusty is an absolutely gorgeous red/chestnut Husky mix (perhaps mixed with Pomeranian) who came to Green Hills Animal Shelter after being picked up as a stray.

Rusty, who we estimate to be about 2 or three years old, is a sweet dog who is very people-oriented. When you first meet Rusty he may seem just a little shy, but that won’t last very long because this sweet boy has such a love for people that his friendly, naturally happy personality can’t help shining through! Rusty is a playful dog who is also very affectionate and gentle. His favorite game is fetching, and Rusty will happily play for as long as you will continue to play with him. Unlike some dogs, Rusty is not a big barker. We have not yet heard him sing the song of his ancestors as so many huskies do on a moonlit night, but we’re sure that beautiful howl and song is in there somewhere just waiting to be shared with a family of his own.  Rusty gets along well with other dogs, and his gentle nature would make him a good fit in a home with children.

If Rusty could describe his perfect Forever Home, he would ask for a home where he could spend a lot of time and have a lot of interaction with his family. He would love to play fetch and to go on long leashed walks. Rusty, would love to be an indoor dog, but like all Husky’s he will also need a securely fenced yard as his genetics provide him with Houdini-like escape skills. (Did you know that the “H” in “Husky” often stands for Houdini?!)  Rusty would be very happy to share his home with children, and he would also be quite content to have a canine sibling or two to spend time with.

Rusty will go to his Forever Home neutered, de-wormed, heartworm tested and up to date on all vaccinations including rabies. He is a sweet boy who can’t wait to get out of the shelter and have a family of his own; could that family be yours?
