Pet Of The Week – Sandy

We’d like to introduce you to Sandy! Sandy is a 10-week-old bundle of happiness that we believe to be a mix of Terrier and a small to medium breed of Hound, and she is one of the sweetest little pups you could ever hope to meet!

Sandy arrived at Green Hills Animal Shelter along with her mom and her five siblings after they were picked up as strays. Life on the street is hard for any animal, but it was surely extra tough for a mom and 5 babies struggling to survive on their own in the summer heat. Fortunately, their little family was rescued, and they quickly settled into life at the shelter, happy to finally have plentiful food, fresh water, and lots of love.

Sandy is a wonderfully well-rounded pup who is both playful and loving.  She, like her siblings, can be a little shy when she first meets new people, but she warms up quickly and in no time at all, she will consider you her best friend. Sandy’s favorite activities at the shelter are playing with her siblings and charming the staff and volunteers, and she excels at both! Her easy-going personality and love of people will certainly make her a wonderful addition to her new home.

If Sandy could describe her perfect Forever Home, she would ask to be part of a family that will give her lots of love and includes her in all their activities. She would love to be an indoor dog with access to a securely fenced yard where she could go out to run and play. Sandy gets along well with other dogs and would very much enjoy having a canine sibling in her new home (perhaps even one of her siblings) and she would also be happy in a home with children. Since Sandy spends her time at the shelter playing with her siblings she hasn’t yet had an opportunity to form an opinion on cats, but with her young age and friendly, curious personality she would likely get along well with a feline friend in her new home as well.

Sandy will go to her Forever Home dewormed and up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations. She is scheduled to be spayed in September, but we will allow her to go home early with a spay voucher so that she can spend her time settling into her Forever Home and bonding with her new family, rather than waiting at the shelter.

For more information on Sandy, her siblings, or any animals waiting for their Forever Homes at Green Hills Animal Shelter, please phone the shelter at 660-359-2700 or stop by during open business hours. We’d love to introduce you to Sandy, her siblings, and the other pets waiting for their homes!
