Pet Of The Week – Tina

It’s been said that puppies wrap us around their little paws right after they wrap their little paws around our hearts, and this saying couldn’t be more true; especially when it comes to Tina! Tina is a wonderful mix of puppy breath, tail wags, and body wiggles who will wrap herself around your heart in an instant! What makes Tina so adorable? Well Tina’s Foster parent ordered a DNA test and the results are in:  Tina’s cuteness is made up of 40.7% Pit Bull Terrier, 19.1% American English Coonhound, 16.2% Labrador Retriever, 11.5% Redbone Coonhound, 8.5% Akita, and 4.0% Standard Poodle. In short, Tina and her siblings are a wonderful blend of loyalty, intelligence, sportiness and eagerness to please!

Tina and her siblings came to Green Hills Animal Shelter after their mom, Susie, was found wandering alone in August, very pregnant and very much in need of care. She was rescued and brought to the shelter and Tina and her nine siblings (Speckles, Domino, Olive, Lavender, Dottie, Patches, Oreo, Minnie, and Spot) were born in a foster home on August 17, 2023. They thrived with Susie’s tender care, and now Tina, her mom, and her happy, wiggly siblings are ready to meet their Forever Families.

Tina is the smallest puppy in her litter and her diminutive size has led to her being nicknamed “Tiny Tina” by shelter staff and volunteers. But despite her size Tina is 100% puppy; she is feisty and joyous and loves playing with her siblings. One of her favorite activities at the shelter is going outside for playtime and then coming back inside for a good long nap in a puppy pile with her brothers and sisters. Tina is  also very friendly and affectionate and she genuinely enjoys being with people.   She loves toys and is always up for a good game of tug of war with any human or puppy willing to play with her.

Tina is still very much a baby and hasn’t yet experienced a home of her own, but if she could describe what she thinks it might be like she would undoubtedly tell us that she would like to have a home where she could be an indoor dog and have a family who would shower her with love and chew toys. She would love to have a soft bed of her own, learn to take long-leashed walks, and spend her entire life being loved. Tina would very much enjoy having a child in her new home whom she could grow up with, and she would also be quite happy to share her home with another canine (maybe even one of her siblings!), or perhaps even a laid back kitty.

Tina will go to her Forever Home spayed, dewormed, and up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations. She will also arrive with her very own bag of Science Diet puppy food to help get her started in her new Forever Home.
