POLO TEENS HURT IN THURSDAY EVENING COLLISION WITH POLE

 

A PAIR OF POLO TEENS SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES THURSDAY EVENING WHEN THEIR VEHICLE HIT A UTILITY POLE.

THE HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS AT 8:05 P.M. THURSDAY 18-YEAR-OLD SONDRA D. SUMPTER WAS DRIVING A 1996 JEEP CHEROKEE AT THE INTERSECTION OF ORE ROAD AND RENO ROAD ABOUT FIVE MILES WEST OF POLO WHEN SHE FAILED TO NEGOTIATE THE WIDE INTERSECTION.

HER JEEP WENT OFF THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE INTERSECTION WHERE IT STRUCK A UTILITY POLE AND CAME TO REST ON ITS WHEELS FACING SOUTH.

BOTH SUMPTER AND PASSENGER 17-YEAR-OLD POLO RESIDENT ABIGAIL I. WALKER WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS, BUT BOTH SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES. BOTH GIRLS WERE TAKEN BY PRIVATE VEHICLE TO LIBERTY HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT.
