Stanberry’s School District will be taking community feedback on their opinion of moving the Stanberry School’s Graduation event from a Sunday afternoon to a Friday evening in future years. The discussion was part of the December Stanberry School Board meeting. The board made it clear that they want community feedback if a change is to take place, and any future graduation day change would not be in effect in the current school year. The 2024 Stanberry school graduation date will be May 12, 2024. A Saturday graduation is not considered a viable option with MSHSAA activities held during that day. Prior to any change, a survey will be sent out by the district in January to gauge the feedback of the community.
Stanberry’s board also discussed the proposed academic calendar for the 2024-25 school year. There were no major changes.
Stanberry school board members received word that door replacement for the east side of the school and the addition of 13 cameras will start in the spring. The funding will come through the Safe Schools Grant and E-Rate funds. After the cameras are added, all entrances, hallways, and parking lots will be accessible through the camera system.
The board also received word that Michael Gard has agreed to speak at Stanberry’s graduation this spring.
