New NWMSU President Takes Office

Northwest Missouri State University’s new president, Dr. Lance Tatum, has officially taken the reigns of the University.

Dr. Tatum was introduced to the Northwest Missouri community March 17 as he was selected to become the 11th President in the History of the University. He officially began his duties as the new president this (Thursday, June 1) morning.

Tatum comes to Northwest from Troy University where he had been serving as senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer. He began his time at Troy as an assistant professor in 1998.

Tatum says the reputation of Northwest among its peers attracted him to the school.

Dr. Tatum earned a Ph.D. in sport management at Florida State University. He has a Master of Science in Education degree in foundations of education and a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education, both from Troy University.
