4 St Joseph Residents Seriously Injured In Nodaway County Accident

An improper turn was part of an accident that resulted in 4 St Joseph residents being taken to the hospital. 3 of them were seriously injured.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 23 Urizardo Rojas Bautista was driving northbound Route H at the Route V junction, 5 miles west of Maryville, and failed to stop at a stop sign. The driver made an improper turn and continued northbound. The vehicle eventually hit the north edge of Route V, struck an embankment and utility pole, overturned, and landed on its driver’s side. The vehicle also landed on top of a fence.

4 St Joseph men who were passengers in the vehicle were seriously injured in the accident. Two were later flown to hospitals for care after ambulance transport.

20 year old Harri Huarcas was flown to KU Medical Center.  23 year old Yonico Perez was flown to Mosaic Lifecare in St Joseph.  21 year old Jeronzmo Osvaldo was taken to Mosaic Lifecare in St Joseph.  30 year old Rigoberto Mendez was taken to Mosaic in Maryville.  All had serious injuries according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s report.

The accident took place just after 6:45am Sunday. The Maryville Department of Public Safety and the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Highway Patrol.
