Application Periods Set For Bear/Elk Hunting In Missouri
The Missouri Department of Conservation has set the application period for the random drawing for elk permits through the month of May. Hunters wishing to apply may do so through the Missouri Department of Conservation website, the free MO Hunting app, through a permit vendor, or by calling the Department of Conservation. There will be a $10 application fee. Those selected can purchase a permit for $50. All of the elk-hunting permits can be used in Carter, Reynolds, and Shannon counties, except for the refuge portion of the Peck Ranch Conservation area. The archery portion of the elk season will be October 21st through the 29th. The firearms season will run from December 9th through December 17th.
The Department will also offer 400 permits to take a maximum of 40 black bears during the black-bear season this fall. It runs from October 16th through October 25th. There will be 3 pre-determined Bear Management Zones. The bear-permit random drawing application period runs May 1st through May 31st. Each applicant will pay a $10 fee. Those selected can purchase a BMZ-specific permit for $25.
