Bethany Council Notified Of Grant Award Towards A New Police Vehicle

Bethany’s Board of Aldermen received word that a $20,000 grant has been received for a new police car. The announcement was made at a meeting Monday night. The money will come from the American Rescue Plan Act State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds Peace Officers Grant. The grant will require a match locally. The cost for the car will be just over $40,000 after the car is outfitted.

The cost estimates for the interior and exterior repairs for the Bethany Depot were presented. That work will likely take place in 2024 after the Depot is moved this fall.

Plans for the HCCH Hospital’s relocation to 39th street were signed and sent to the contractors.

Council members will review bids for a side by side for the fire department to aid in grass fires at the next meeting.

Utility decreases approved by the Bethany Council in the first March meeting will be reflected on the bills which will be sent out next week.

Brenton Wagner will start full time with the street department on March 22nd. He also has been serving on the Bethany Fire Department for over 5 years.
