Congressman Graves Defends Debt Limit Deal

(MISSOURINET) – President Biden has signed into law a bill that raises the country’s debt limit – allowing the federal government to pay its bills. Northern Missouri Congressman Sam Graves, a Republican, defends the deal.

The bill calls for the return of 28(B)Billion dollars in unspent COVID-related funding, strengthens welfare work requirements, and cuts 80(B)Billion dollars sought by President Biden to add 20-Thousand IRS agents. Members of Missouri’s Congressional delegation who opposed the deal are Democrat Cori Bush as well as Republicans Mark Alford, Eric Burlison, Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt.
