Corydon Man Sentenced In Federal Court For Attempting To Produce Child Pornography
A Corydon man was sentenced in federal court Monday for attempting to produce child pornography following an online harassment of a Calloway County, Missouri teenager for 5 years.
61 year old David Jonathon Dodds was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison without parole and will have 10 years of supervised release after the incarceration.
Dodds pleaded guilty in September of last year to one court of attempting to produce child pornography. He was already a registered sex offender in Iowa and sent pornography videos of himself to the 16 year old victim.
Dodds admitted that he initially contacted the child victim through an Instagram account when she was 13 years old, disguising himself as a teenage male, and continued contacting her until she was 18 years old through social media. Her father contacted the Calloway County Sheriff’s Department in February 2020 to report that his 18-year-old daughter had been the victim of harassment and sexual enticement for several years.
The U.S Attorney’s Office release says the behavior then escalated to the extent that the victim became uncomfortable. The victim attempted to cut off communications, and Dodds then threatened the victim to show inappropriate photos that the victim had previously sent him.
Dodds admitted to having similar conversations with several other unidentified underage victims.
Dodds has been in federal custody since his arrest.
