Council Bluffs Man Hurt in Holt Co. Accident
A Council Bluffs, Iowa man was left with moderate injuries after a one-vehicle accident in Holt County Wednesday morning.
According to Troop H of the Highway Patrol, 57-year-old Council Bluffs resident Bret M. Johnson was driving a 2017 Western Star 5700 semi southbound on I-29 at the 70 mile marker in Holt County at 7:54 A.M. Wednesday when the truck went off the east side of the interstate, went through the median and skidded across the northbound lanes of the highway.
The truck proceeded to travel off the east side of the northbound lanes where it hit an embankment, traveled up that embankment and struck a tree. That collision spilled the trucks cargo as the truck came to rest on its top facing east.
Johnson was reportedly wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident but still suffered moderate injuries. He was taken by Atchison Holt Ambulance to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph for treatment.
