Court Battle Could Be Brewing Over Missouri Bill to Bring Property Tax Relief to Seniors

(MISSOURINET) – A court battle could be brewing over a bill signed into law that aims to bring property tax relief to Missouri senior citizens. The property tax revenue helps to fund local schools and governments, and the revenue loss would hit their budget where it hurts. Doug Hayter, with the Missouri Association of School Administrators, says the bill is vague.

The bill, sponsored by Parkville Republican Senator Tony Luetkemeyer, would allow counties to freeze the property tax rates of Missouri seniors.
