Grand River Bridge Set For Redecking Project
A redecking project is set to start soon for a bridge south of Chillicothe.
The Missouri Department of Transportation says crews plan to begin construction Monday, March 2 on a redecking project for the Grand River Bridge, about a mile south of Chillicothe.
The first portion of the project will be the relocation of an access road on the north side of the bridge and should take around one month.
Bridge construction will start after the driveway relocation and will be staged to allow one lane of traffic over the bridge throughout much of the project.
Temporary traffic signals will be used to guide motorists through the workzone.
During two portions of the project to connect the new bridge deck with the roadway, a complete closure of U.S. Route 65, at the bridge, will be necessary.
Exact dates are not yet known, but MO-DOT anticipates one in June and another in October.
During those closures, traffic will be directed over a signed detour route on Routes Z, C, and U.S. Route 36.
Crews plan to have the bridge open to two-way traffic before Thanksgiving.
All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
