Hale, MO Man Hurt After Falling Asleep At The Wheel

A Hale, Missouri man was left with moderate injuries early this (Thursday) morning in a one-vehicle accident in southwest Missouri’s Hickory County.

According to the accident report from Troop D of the Highway Patrol, 43-year-old Hale resident Nicholas S. McElwee was driving a 2005 Ford Escape on U.S. Highway 65 at Cross Timbers at 12:10 this morning when he fell asleep at the wheel and his vehicle went off the roadway where it struck a concrete culvert.

McElwee was not wearing a seat belt at the time and suffered what are described as moderate injuries. He was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment of his injuries.
