Iowa Workforce Development Director Talks About Unemployment Situation in Iowa

Iowa Workforce Development saw another record week of unemployment claims linked to those impacted by the coronavirus. I-W-D director, Beth Townsend says there were more than 67-thousand first time unemployment claims filed from March 29th through April 4th.

Townsend says there is help available if you haven’t yet applied for unemployment.

The federal relief act provides an additional 600 dollars for those on regular and coronavirus unemployment who qualify.

Townsend has this reminder about eligibility for unemployment benefits.

Townsend says they are doing their best to help everyone.
