The first day of fall is today (Wednesday). Jill Pritchard, with the Missouri Department of Conservation, says if you time it correctly, you can catch the rich reds, the yellow, orange and even some purple pigments of Missouri’s native trees.
Generally, the color change is predictable but much depends on the weather. Cool to chilly fall nights is what allows the fall colors to show through.
