(MISSOURINET) – A Missouri organization striving to increase the number of black male K-12 teachers is getting a big boost from a national organization launched by Facebook CEO.
Brothers Liberating Our Communities, in Kansas City, has been awarded a 250-thousand-dollar grant from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. BLOC, which began in 2020, is the first known Missouri recipient of a Chan Zuckerberg Initiative grant for teacher well-being.
Cornell Ellis, founder and executive director, says BLOC is a pipeline to talk about real problems and create solutions.
Eight grants aimed at supporting teacher well-being have been awarded as part of this week’s Teacher Appreciation Week.
