Lawmaker Proposes ‘Tax Holiday’ on Missouri Gas Taxes
(Missourinet) As the Russian invasion of Ukraine rages overseas, a Missouri lawmaker has filed a bill to give us a bit of relief when we fill-up our vehicles.
State Representative Adam Schwadron filed House Bill 2801 which proposes to create a one-time, six-month tax holiday on gas sales in the state of Missouri. The Russian invasion of Ukraine is expected to drive up already increasing gas prices.
The St. Charles Republican says rising motor fuel costs are most likely to affect hard working Americans the most as their costs to travel to and from work affects their bottom line of take-home pay.
The measure is a awaiting a committee hearing and contains an emergency clause which would cause it to take effect immediately is it passes both chambers of the General Assembly and is signed into law by the governor.
