Man Charged in Killing Of St. Joe PD K9

Authorizes in Buchanan County today have announced charges against the man accused of shooting and killing the St. Joseph Police Department K9 Max last week.

Buchanan County Prosecutors today charged 24-year-old Valdez McDonald with armed criminal action in the shooting of Max. Authorities say McDonald was fleeing from officers who were serving a domestic assault warrant when he shot Max, who later died from his wounds.

McDonald was already facing charges of 3rd degree domestic assault for allegedly attacking his mother.

McDonald is in custody at the Buchanan County Law Enforcement Center, where he is being held without bond.
