Mercer County Employee Charged with Four Misdemeanors

PRINCETON, MO – A Mercer County employee has been charged with four counts of delivering prohibited items to county jail inmates.

Charges against 48-year-old Carrie Evans were filed on Tuesday alleging she delivered the prohibited items on July 20th. A Probable Cause Affidavit issued by Mercer County Sheriff Jose Lopez says he was informed Evans purchased “cakepops” for inmates in the jail. Lopez also alleges that his investigation revealed Evans would give inmates their personal clothing while they were incarcerated, and that a search of a cell resulted in the confiscation of several frosting containers from the jail’s kitchen that reportedly were provided to inmates by the defendant. It is also alleged Evans had supplied “fruit bowls” to inmates which were purchased with her own money.

Evans’ social media account says she is employed by Mercer County Emergency Services. She is charged with four class A misdemeanors. The court has not yet issued a warrant or summons in the case.
