Mercer County Hazard Mitigation Plan to Be Available for Public Review

A draft of the Mercer County Hazard Mitigation Plan will be available for public review and comment from January 26 to February 26. A copy of the plan will be available at Princeton City Hall, Mercer City Hall, and on the Green Hills Regional Planning Commission website at ghrpc.org.

The public is invited to make comments or suggestions about this draft of the plan and can be directed to [email protected] or 660-359-5636, extension 25. All comments from the public will be documented and considered for inclusion in the plan.

The plan is an update from the previous plan which was completed in 2019. The purpose of a Hazard Mitigation Plan is to reduce the loss of life and property during times of hazardous events.

This plan was developed through a cooperative effort of officials from Mercer County, the City of Princeton, the City of Mercer, the Princeton R-V School District, and the North Mercer R-III School District. Once approved by the participants and the public, it will be submitted to the State Emergency Management Agency for review and will be given to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for final review.
