MO House Budget Committee Leader Wants State Treasurer Job

(MISSOURINET)- Missouri House Budget Committee Chairman Cody Smith wants to take his political career to the next level. The Republican from southwest Missouri’s Carthage is running for state treasurer in 2024. As state treasurer, he would handle the state’s bank accounts, investments, and unclaimed property, among other things.

Smith, who has served as House budget chair for the past five legislative sessions, faces fellow Republican and sitting state treasurer, Vivek (wee-wake) Malek, in the race.
