Mo West Nursing Assistant Professor Elected To National Council

 

A Missouri Western nursing assistant professor was recently elected to serve on a national council aimed at excellence in healthcare education.

Assistant professor in the School of Nursing and Health Professions at Missouri Western State University, Mechel McKinney, has been elected to the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Council for Excellence in Education (CEE).

The Council for Excellence in Education works to enhance the health information profession, plan for its future through education and provide health information professionals with a way to get involved in the process. The CEE advises AHIMA on education and workforce matters and their collective expertise strengthens the organization’s vision, mission and strategies set by the AHIMA Board of Directors.

McKinney earned an Associate of Science from the University of New Mexico, a Bachelor of Science from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Business Administration from the American Public University System. She is a Registered Health Information Professional (RHIA) and has been at Missouri Western since August 2019.
