MoDOT Hosting Annual Litter Control Campaign For State Roadways in April
The Missouri Department of Transportation wants volunteers to help clean our state roadways.
“No MOre Trash! Bash” is an annual outreach of MoDOT’s year-round litter control efforts that encourages all Missourians to pitch in and pick up during April.
The campaign helps curb the costs of litter control and clears the roads of trash and debris before the start of the mowing season.
In 2022, MoDOT spent seven-point-seven million dollars to remove litter from more than 385-thousand acres of right of way along nearly 34-thousand state highway miles.
For 2023, the work of MoDOT crews and additional litter pickup contracts in Kansas City and Saint Louis expect to bring that total to more than nine million dollars.
MoDOT will provide trash bags and safety vests to anyone who volunteers.
They say everyone can help eliminate trash on state roadways by not littering and securing their load.
