Mount Ayr Council Approves Agreements Prior To Grant Awards

Mount Ayr’s Board of Aldermen approved the two agreements with 38H Properties during their meeting Monday night.

The City of Mount Ayr is serving as a pass-through agency for a Downtown Housing Grant and a Community Catalyst Grant that will eventually provide funding for 38H properties.

Council members agreed to a building permit to allow the county to build a storage facility north of the bowling alley.

Council members will not move forward at this time with lighting upgrades through ROI Energy. They do plan to hold a work session on the matter.

Council members approved a resolution establishing a 3 percent pay increase.

The Princess Theatre received permission to hold a movie night at Judge Lewis Park which will include food trucks.

City council members approved a tobacco permit for Casey’s General Store.

Smoke Testing will take place during the third week of August in Mount Ayr.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources also presented their Tree Report to the council. The report will be reviewed and provide information to the city for ash trees which may need to be eliminated due to the presence of the Emerald Ash Borer.
