Senator Luetkemeyer Moves Forward With Senior Citizen Tax Freeze

Missouri residents 62 and older could see their property taxes frozen under a bill being considered by the Missouri House.

Parkville Republican Tony Luetkemeyer sponsored the bill in the State Senate, where it’s already passed.

He says it’s in response to recent hikes in property taxes. . .

He says as a result, many seniors on fixed incomes face the possibility of being taxed out of their homes.

It will be up to the counties to determine if the property tax freeze goes into effect.

A county commission can approve the freeze, or it can be approved at the ballot box.
