St. Joe Semi Driver Hurt After Hitting Sign

A St. Joseph semi driver was left with minor injuries after his rig went off road Thursday morning and hit a ditch and Mo-Dot sign.

Troop H of the Highway Patrol says the accident happened at about 10:45 Thursday morning as 52-year-old Donald D. Sample of St. Joseph was driving a 2013 Volvo tractor trailer southbound on Highway V-V two miles northwest of Gower and went off the west side of the roadway.

Once off road the semi hit a ditch and then struck a Mo-Dot sign before coming back onto the roadway and overturning onto its passenger side and coming to rest blocking both lanes of the roadway.

Sample was wearing a seat belt but still suffered minor injuries. He was taken by Tri-County EMS to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph for treatment.
